This is the aarti of Maa Ganga who resides in the hairs of God Shiva. Ganga is the holiest river in India and it is believed that even one bath in this will remove all sins. The river Ganga is in Hinduism worshiped as a Goddess, indication of the worship of Ganga can be found in the earliest of the sacred Hindu scriptures the Rig-Veda. Lots of Hindus come to the banks of the river Ganga to have a bath. Hindus also immerse the ashes in the Ganga as it is believed that doing so frees them from the cycle of life and death and they attain Moksha.
